What we do

In a nutshell: We help our clients to build sites that meet their customers' needs.

We think observing people in their own environment let's us find out as much as possible about the context in which they use a site. For some kinds of site, like those used for booking a holiday or researching a major household purchase, 'the customer' is often a couple. Purchasing decisions are often reached jointly or not all, through a process of negotiation that is almost impossible to observe outside of the home environment.

Making a site accessible is often perceived to be about ensuring compliance with various technical standards. Compliance is a valuable first step but to really understand the problems people using assistive technologies face it's essential to observe them using their own equipment.

For usability and accessibility studies, we always record our sessions using picture-in-picture digital video. This means you get to see what the customer is seeing on their screen, hear what they have to say and see their facial expression as they are saying it. Our equipment is portable so we can go almost anywhere and still bring back high quality results. As far as we know, no other usability company in the UK can do this.
